How much does it cost to get married with Marriage Victoria’s Award-Winning Melbourne Marriage Registry?
The summary of costs is simple:
Part One: The $175 lodgement fee for the NOIM.
All personal assistance from our team is supplied free of charge to all our couples for this process.
Part Two: The ceremony fee in which you choose the most suitable option for your wedding plans.
Choose your personal wedding option for the marriage ceremony to take place either at your chosen venue and location (indoors or outdoors) with one of our highly experienced celebrants,
OR at our Victorian marriage registry location which is the Award-Winning Melbourne Marriage Registry in South Yarra
Part Three: Ordering the official marriage certificate – which is available only via the government in each state of Australia if the couple require a copy of the final processed marriage certificate. This will be required if you are choosing to change your surname, or if you are marrying with Marriage Victoria and going through the immigration Visa process. It is the couple’s choice to order this or not. The celebrant can order this for the couple at the completion of the wedding.

Bookings for your wedding ceremony are available 7 Days A Week, at any time of the day, 365 days a year. You can even book on days such as Christmas Day or any Public Holidays for a premium date price in the registry at what is still an affordable cost for a really great wedding ceremony celebration! Our Victorian marriage registry is located in South Yarra and the price includes the room, the celebrant, the ceremony and all the legals required for the day.

As at September 2024, Marriage Victoria’s cost to lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage with a celebrant is a one-time fee of $175, and this comes with the One-Time Fee Guarantee of No Additional Future NOIM Lodgement Fees, in the event that the couple has not yet married within the lodgement eligibility period. Marriage Victoria will always renew the NOIM for free at the expiration of the NOIM’s 18 month period.
You can book your Melbourne Marriage Registry ceremony to be legally conducted in one month from the date of signing and lodging your Notice of Intended Marriage. Check the Price Guide for ceremony booking details.

Part One: Initial Lodgment of ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ (Form 13) Paperwork
Lodgment of Notice Of Intended Marriage – Form 13 with authorised celebrant. (This includes any transfer of NOIM-Form 13 paperwork from another celebrant across to Melbourne Marriage Registry – Victoria)
Initial Non–Refundable Up-front Lodgement Payment *$175
(*Full lodgement payment is required to be made at the time of the lodgement of the Notice of Intended Marriage, or when a transferred NOIM is received and processed)
Part Two: Melbourne Marriage Registry – Ceremony Room Booking – Fee Schedule* (This is the additional cost to Part One fee). There are many different options depending on the number of guests and which date and time suits you and your plans.
*Prices listed are 100% ‘all-inclusive’ of Marriage Victoria’s ceremony services – including the Celebrant, the Legal Process and Documentation completion as required by law, and use of our Award-Winning intimate Ceremony Room (which can accommodate up to 35+ people).
A minimum of up to 30 minutes is allocated for your ceremony time in the ceremony room for up to 6 guests only – except where otherwise stated.
Our minimum priced Legal-only bookings are allocated a 15 minute window for the couple plus two witnesses to attend.
You will be required to bring two witnesses over the age of 18 years.
You may choose to invite up to 6 guests of family and friend for the half hour ceremony, however we recommend booking in for extended time for your ceremony in a 40 minute ceremony for up to 12 guests, or the one hour ceremony if you wish to have anywhere through to the maximum number of guests. There are no expections on numbers. Over our last 15 years providing high quality micro wedding ceremonies to couples, we have experienced that ceremonies with larger guest numbers usually run overtime and this will be billed in additional 30 minute increments.
Please note – Extended time ceremonies will incur a room and celebrant’s fee surcharge and must be booked in advance (see price list details below).
Full payment – in advance – may be requested at the time of booking your ceremony, in order to secure your preferred wedding date and time.
We recommended early booking for popular wedding days, e.g. Valentine’s Day, special numerical dates, such as 11/11/2025 and New Year’s Eve.
PREMIUM MAX** COSTINGS – INCLUDING the weekends and certain weekdays surrounding these major days: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, Easter (Friday to Monday), the Monarch’s Birthday, Anzac Day, the Australia Day Weekend, Chinese New Year’s Eve and New Year, February 29th, Valentine’s day & Valentine’s Weekend, plus the weekends closest to these specific dates.
*CONDITIONS OF BOOKING:
*Varying Cancellation Fees (*these cancellation fees only apply to Part Two of the fee schedule)
~ More than one month prior to booking date No charge
~ Between 8 to 30 days prior to ceremony booking $150
~ 4 to 7 days or less prior to the ceremony booking $220
~ 4 to 7 days or less prior to the ceremony booking on a Premium Max date $300
~ 1 to 3 days prior to the booked ceremony Full payment due.
~ Late arrival or non-attendance by any couple will incur the full ceremony booking fee. No refunds will be due. A new ceremony booking time will need to be arranged – at the appropriate booking fee or price guide cost.
*Note: The Booking fee will be refunded within 7 days of written notice being received by the Melbourne Private Marriage Registry – Victoria, minus the appropriate listed cancellation fee. Receipt of such notice is deemed to be dated from the moment our offices receive the written notice from either party of the intended couple. You will receive immediate confirmation from our offices as soon as this written notice is received and processed.
*The Notice of Intended Marriage Form 13 must be lodged no less than one month before the proposed date of the ceremony, and no more than 18 months from the proposed date of the ceremony. All renewals of the NOIM will at no additional cost or charge to the intended couple that have booked. NOIMs are not transferrable.
*All Premium costings include any Public Holidays which are not listed in the Premium Max costings.
*All Premium Max costings include Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, Easter (Friday to Monday), Queen’s Birthday, Anzac Day, Australia Day, Chinese New Year, February 29th, Valentine’s day & Valentine’s Weekend plus the weekends closest to these dates. All dates falling on the 25th of each month during 2025 will be charged at the weekend rate.
*A new day is deemed to begin at 6am on each day.
*All bookings are made in 30 minute segments. Any extended time in the ceremony rooms is costed in 30 minute increments. Half hour ceremonies are not usually available on Premium dates – except by prior arrangement with the Marriage Victoria bookings officer.
*Late attendance or failure to arrive for a booked ceremony will result in a cancellation of the booked time and the couple will forfeit the full booking fee. The couple will be required to book a new time at the appropriate booking fee or cost.
*All bookings are dependant upon availability. Early booking is recommended for popular wedding dates.
*Off-site Weddings are available at a higher cost. We have access to over 20 experienced, excellent celebrants available for your specific requirements. Please enquire during business hours regarding our celebrant-client ‘matching service’. Price will be individually quoted upon enquiry.
